Title: Artists in Residency: Iranian fashion designer / graphic designer / fashion-applied designer
The Saastamoinen Foundation Finland is seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced individuals from Iran to undertake creative research on Iranian fashion before and after the Islamic Revolution (1978) and to create artistic designs and tailored pieces/samples of alternative Iranian fashion design. The Saastamoinen Foundations has cooperated with Perpetuum Mobile ry since 2017 in co-organizing artists-in-residencies for international artists in Helsinki.
Since 1997, Saastamoinen Foundation has engaged in purposeful collaboration with partners in the fields of science, education, art and culture. It promotes internationalism and openness in all its activities. The foundation’s operations aim to promote international research, education and networking.
Your Responsibilities:
Undertaking creative research on Iranian fashion before and after the Islamic Revolution (1978)
- Creating a fashion collection of artistic designs and tailored pieces/samples of alternative Iranian fashion design
- Giving talks on the topic of Iranian fashion before and after the Islamic Revolution (1978)
- Creating mood boards, graphic design and text presentations for the lections
- Leading international discussions with students on Iranian fashion design: traditions and revolutionary ideas
- Supporting the foundation in marketing the activities related to your task involvement
- Creative lead on photography, digital presentation and graphic design for the fashion collection
- Presentation of at least one fashion collection
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's and Master's degree in graphic design acquired in Iran
- At least one additional degree from a European University in fashion/apparel design
- Master´s degree in Business Administration acquired in Iran
- Certificate in fashion design acquired in Iran
- Native spoken Persian
- Fluent in English
- Extensive experience in fashion design production in Iran (at least 4 years)
- Extensive experience in the organisation of fashion shows and exhibitions (at least 30 individual and group fashion shows and art exhibitions)
- Extensive experience with relevant software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator)
- Further skills: professional photography/editing, fashion design and styling, art direction and consultancy, fashion project management, instruction/training, writing
