Fulbright-Saastamoinen Foundation Grants

The grant programmes jointly funded by Saastamoinen Foundation, the Fulbright Finland Foundation and the University of Eastern Finland bring top researchers in the fields of health sciences and environmental sciences from the United States. to the University of Eastern Finland and open opportunities to enhance the networks for teaching and research between Finland and the United States.

The programs jointly funded by Saastamoinen Foundation, the Fulbright Finland Foundation, and the University of Eastern Finland bring leading American researchers in health and environmental sciences to the University of Eastern Finland, creating opportunities to strengthen collaboration in teaching and research between Finland and the United States. The success of this transatlantic cooperation reflects the international recognition of the University of Eastern Finland’s research.

By 2025, a total of eight top researchers will have visited the University of Eastern Finland through the program.

For the 2023–2025 academic years, the scholarships have been awarded to two researchers: Julie Goodwin from Yale University, who will join the Department of Pediatrics, and Anthony Hackney from the University of North Carolina, who will join the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
