RARE DOCS: Ratrace takes the viewer through the stories of young people who have experienced social exclusion, small animated rat pups lost in a laboratory, and a still, photojournalistic narrative that highlights the sites of exclusion across different parts of our society. The film creates dialogue between young people, researchers, and professionals working with youth, compelling the viewer to confront the exclusionary structures of our society face to face.
The production has been made possible by Saastamoinen Foundation, the Brita Maria Renlund Memorial Foundation (Stiftelsen Brita Maria Renlunds minne), and the Committee for Public Information (TJNK).
Saastamoinen Foundation supports RARE DOCS <3 IMPACT series. In the series, RARE produces short documentary films about youth social exclusion, social media, and mental health; create social media journalism around these topics; and organize film screenings and events across Finland. The first installment RARE DOCS: The Finnish Paradox, was released in Autumn 2024.
The film’s duration is 28 minutes. It is in Finnish with subtitles in Swedish and English. The film is freely available to watch on Youtube.
