Aalto University School of Business impacts society by educating future experts and leaders, conducting high-quality research, and collaborating closely with stakeholders beyond the academic world.
Saastamoinen Foundation’s support has enabled the establishment of a professorship in data science within the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Economics, the Helsinki Graduate School of Economics, in which Aalto University participates. Saastamoinen Foundation has supported the students and teaching of the academic initiative by contributing to the quality of teaching facilities in the form of a named auditorium.
In 2025, the Foundation made a significant donation to support multidisciplinary activities in the Aalto University’s Marsio building.
Marsio
Saastamoinen Foundation supports multidisciplinary activities in the new Marsio building on the Otaniemi campus.
Opened in autumn 2024, Marsio is a place for radical creativity, experimentation, and new ways of thinking. With this support, Aalto University strengthens its education in art and media, its multidisciplinary research, and its societal impact.

Helsinki Graduate School of Economics
Helsinki GSE is a joint economic teaching and research unit of Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics and the University of Helsinki. It offers high-quality and innovative master’s and doctoral education with the best international researchers and aims to increase the number of economics professorships in Finland and to reform master’s and doctoral education in economics. Saastamoinen Foundation, together with the Wihuri Foundation, supports the Aalto University Economics of Data Science professorship, which is part of the programme.
